“I worked with Declan for more than 6 years in Orange where he was contracted to help us in building a complete new delivery chain tools based on Pega. Declan with his excellent expertise in Process modelling (BPMN), Decision modelling (DMN) has been a valuable help for the success of our big project (10+ M€) and I can say that without him, we would have never brought this project to conclusion with success. We, at that time, had no skills in Agile development, User stories writing, BPMN modelling etc…and Declan trained all of us, put in place a dictionary, a glossary, many user guides which were of great help. Over time and with Declan’s help we improved our way of working, our way of maintaining documentation, our way of writing User story etc. We spent weeks in meeting with Declan and other stakeholders, and with his patience and expertise he always tried to make us improve ourselves in modelling, user story writing and testing. I remember that each time we had meetings with Business to translate requirements into User stories, Declan always asked us to repeat what we understood from the Business before writing User stories and this was very valuable because from what we understood, what we wrote in the User story, what was developed in the code and what was finally delivered there was always a significant gap previously!
As a conclusion I can sincerely say that we regret that we were not able to keep Declan in Orange to continue the journey with us because he helped us so much in accelerating our understanding of modelling, keeping documentation up-to-date etc. We will never work in the same way now that we have learnt so much from him.
